About Me

I qualified as a physiotherapist in 2005 and started my career in the NHS before moving into private practice. My NHS work included trauma orthopaedics, musculoskeletal outpatients, paediatrics, spinal injury and elderly care. I have extensive experience of treating musculoskeletal and orthopaedic conditions, and working with children.

I am passionate about working with people to help them reclaim the quality of life they are looking for, and do the things which make them happy. This could be helping an athlete maintain their peak fitness, or someone with an arthritic knee who wants to be able to continue walking their dog. I use a range of treatment approaches including exercise rehabilitation and strengthening, manual therapies, acupuncture, pilates and yoga. I also teach APPI Pilates and Therapeutic Yoga 1:1 and in small groups.

For the last 10 years I have specialised in musculoskeletal and orthopaedic disorders at Nuffield Health Hospital York, including sports injuries, neck and back pain and arthritis-related problems as well as post-operative rehabilitation. I continue to work as a Senior Physiotherapist at Nuffield 2 days a week.

I completed a Sports and Exercise Science Degree prior to training as a physiotherapist and am also an athlete; over the years I have competed in many running and triathlon events. After having a family my focus has shifted a little and I now love to compete in longer distance running and Swimrun events. Given my hobbies, it is no surprise that I am particularly passionate about treating sports injuries. As well as getting people back to sports quickly and effectively, I also really believe in prehab, and love to focus on helping people to avoid injury, train effectively and achieve peak performance.

In 2019 and 2020 I trained with the Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute (APPI), to be able to teach 1:1 and small group therapeutic Yoga. In addition to this, having completed initial Pilates matwork training several years ago I completed the APPI full Matwork series in 2020 to enable me to teach small physiotherapy lead classes as well as 1:1 sessions. In my day to day work and my own training I utilise Pilates alongside Therapeutic Yoga and see huge benefits both physically and mentally from these approaches.

I am a member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), an accredited member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP), and also a qualified musculoskeletal acupuncturist.

Clinic runs 1-8pm on a Wednesday, other times available on request. I always suggest a free initial telephone conversation to discuss suitability of condition for treatment, please use my 'Contact Me' page, telephone or email.
